Design Week Magazine: One Year On.

Rock Formations Studs

Throwback to one of the first magazines I was ever included in as a result of being selected for the ‘One Year On’ section of new designers back in 2007! I still vividly remember receiving the selection letter and pack in the post.

Here’s what they had to say about this exhibition:

Welcome to One Year On, one of the main sideshows to the New Designers graduate extravaganza and one that Design Week is proud to be involved with.

Organised by Upper Street Events at the Business Design Centre in London’s Islington, it charts the progress of 40-plus up-and-coming design stars one year on from leaving college.

As in previous years, the spread of talent of these creative makers is broad, ranging from ceramics and jewellery to photography and fashion. They have been hand-picked this year by a panel let by design activist and retailer Thrsten van Elten, who is curating the two-week event.

Van Elten worked with the BDC to come up with a list from which the exhibitors were selected by a panel including Gareth Williams, curator of architecture at the Victoria & Albert Museum, jeweller Marlene McKibbin, Madeleine Furness, maker development officer at the Crafts Council, and Design Week editor Lynda Relph-Knight. They have chosen participants for their creative talent and the way their businesses have developed in the 12 months since they left college.”
