The Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity (www.rainbowtrust.org.uk) is much loved, and put simply, an amazing charity. It provides emotional and practical support to families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness. Rainbow Trust’s Family Support Workers join the family in their own home and are there to provide practical support. The Charity is contactable 24 hours a day for families in crisis from diagnosis, through treatment and even after bereavement.
From humble beginnings of two staff and a kitchen table to work from, Rainbow is now a national charity and supports approximately 1000 families across England. Rainbow continues to grow year on year and makes progress onwards achieving its vision that one day all terminally ill children and their families will have access to a rainbow carer.
This year Rainbow Trust celebrates its 25th anniversary. As part of it’s celebrations they hosted a one-off fundraising event called the ‘Trust in Fashion’.
The Trust in Fashion saw Marie Claire team up with my-wardrobe.com and Storm Models for a two day fashion extravaganza, promising celebrities, top models and the ultimate shopping experience.
Taking place at London’s One Mayfair, Trust in Fashion was a star-studded event of fashionable fundraising. On the evening of 29th June, there was a VIP catwalk show co-hosted by Sadie Frost and Marie Claire editor, Trish Halpin with Storm models taking to the catwalk in the latest AW11 collections from the online retail site my-wardrobe. Lucia Debiuex and Holly Welch of Marie Claire magazine did an amazing job on the catwalk show. It all looked fabulous!
If that wasn’t enough to get your fashion pulses racing, there was also an A-list auction with donations from fashion greats including Manolo Blahnik, Stella McCartney and Christian Louboutin.
I was incredibly delighted to receive an invitation to be part of the event and didn’t hesitate to accept the offer to help. I designed and made a very special necklace that I donated to the Trust in Fashion to auction, with all of the proceeds going to the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity. My necklace was modelled on the catwalk by model Liberty Ross during the VIP night and shown alongside other items from the before mentioned designers.
It was an amazing night I will never forget. As well as Sadie Frost, Trish Halpin and Liberty Ross, I met Brigitte Nielsen; a wonderful woman who was there to show her support for the Charity and share her experience.
The champagne flowed, the sushi was amazing and the models simply stunning. A beautifully organised event with some rather memorable moments!
Thank you to all involved for inviting me to be part of this amazing fundraising show. It was an honour. It is a night that I will never forget and I am so proud to have been part of it and have my work support such an amazing cause.
Here are some more pictures of the night. The next blog post will contain more details of the necklace that I designed and made especially for the event.
